Some great painting apps for your Kindle Fire

There are many apps to choose from which offer quite a range in different fun tools for you and your kids to play and create with.

Please note that some of these recommendations link to online galleries for you to engage with if you want and there is a couple you will need to pay for if you want to use the app. I have gone through to find the free apps that offer the tools you need with the least amount of ads, so whatever your budget you can get access to these tools.

Level 1 – Figuring out mark marking! Developing your dexterity to draw comes with practice! These are a selection of apps that just focus on colour and a paintbrush, just like Microsoft Paint but even easier!

Level 2 – When you want to start exploring your favourite topics and drawing them in more detail, starting to create full pictures. These apps have more options to their tools and more colours to choose from! Still simple to understand so you don't get overwhelmed by all the bells and whistles of the more advanced painting programmes.

Level 3 – Let your creativity take full flight! Want the whole colour spectrum? You've got it! Need a range of brushes and textures? Take your pick! From various editing tools and tweaks, to multiple layers and blending modes, these apps give you a lot! I have also included some apps which have a small fee, but I've given a few options to appeal to different budgets.

Now, when you are just starting, you will be using the device you already have to hand. If you do not have a Kindle, click on the link below to go to the appropriate page:

  • iPad/iPhone
  • Android device

You can load apps onto any device by visiting their app store. Not every app will be available on all devices though.
